Dude, Where's The Raya Mood?

Is it just me or this year’s Raya is waaaaay too laid back? less than a fortnight to go and the festive feel is still not there.

I just came back from AEON Jusco Bukit Tinggi, and the only Raya-ness view are teh simple structure at the centre court, some decorations, and a stall selling (pretty expensive) Kuih Raya.

Jusco, and the other stores, while are now offerring sales and selling Baju Melayu in all shapes, sizes, colors and brands, are not doing the Raya Sales. If compared to last year, the line of vision could not miss the Raya Sale adverts hanging from the ceiling and discounts offering.

Something is wrong. Some would blame the cost of living, but even during the recession in 98 I still can see throngs of people shopping for Raya, and one can feel and see the mood. This year, even the traders are worried.

Come on Malaysians… Buang Yang Keruh, Ambil Yang Jernih..
