Apple's Lightning to micro USB adapter: Is Apple milking money from its users?

Apple is now SELLING Lightning to micro USB adapter. so iPad 4, Mini and iPhone 5 users can connevt to micro USB cables for charging and synching data.

This baffles me. why would Apple do this? why would you need to implement Lightning in the first place? Apple pundits claims the 8 pins in the Lightning is superior than the 5 pins in micro USB. That sounds legit, but micro USB docks are already doing most of what Lightning is doing at the moment. see example below. even if it’s not as nice as most Apple products, when it works, it works.

Can anybody enlighten me any technical reasons to do this, before I resort to the “Apple is milking money from its users” cliche?
