Counter Heroes(ines)

I have to admit, I love seeing professionals doing their job. Fast, efficient, precise. And IMHO, bank tellers, and chicken meat sellers are the best. Why?

Ever seen how tellers process your transactions? How fast they can type in your account number into the system, how they know which stamp is which, and what form should be used? I have to admit, that the wait is the longest part of the transaction, but these tellers are often faster than an ATM. Try deposit some money into an account using both, and clock the time. You’ll see what I mean.

This however, caters to certain banks. There are banks whose tellers are floating around, as if their work is a kind of Yoga. I’ve since closed accounts with these kind of banks, whose staff has no dedication to serve the customer properly.

Then is the male poultry seller. I don’t know…but since I lacked cooking skills, seeing these men cutting and gutting up the chicken in about a minute, made me kind of jealous. Not, It doesn’t make me ‘hot’ or anything, just in case you’re wondering. It’s just how fast they process the chicken, makes it seems simple, although it’s not, at least for me.

I’m writing this, because within this week, I’ve met 2 other person in similar profession who has some unique abilities. The first was a cashier in McDonalds Section 18, Shah Alam, named Azlina. She has the clearest voice, that she can be the voice of millions of lifts, queue and call systems, and IVRs nationwide, if not worldwide. I was about to make an order when she first speak to me in such clarity, that I just follow her suggestions (fries, etc). I think she can try out for KLIA’s PA personnel, I think.

Another one is the sole woman behind the counter for Road Tax and Insurance in Ambank Section 15. Somehow, this afternoon. she managed to hold the fort while 10 anxious men waiting to settle their transaction and have lunch. She was so calm, yet her work was swift. She even had time to smile, a trait we found more on badges and posters than on the staffs themselves.

Kudos, to these people. whom we should be like, and not just reading blogs during work hours. (:P)
